BLOGMAS// December Style Day 8
Christmas shopping should be wonderful, in theory. You’re buying gifts for people you love, gingerbread lattes exist and there are twinkly lights in every direction. But there’s just too many people; a seat in Starbucks becomes rarer than your dream party dress in the sale in your size and just ‘popping’ into town becomes an entire afternoon of scrambling your way through crowds. The British are known for their ability to queue, but even that goes a bit pear shaped around Christmas. You see so many great gifts and think, you know who would LOVE that? Me, which really isn’t the point. You eventually settle for socks for Dad and a nice bottle of wine for you, cause you deserve it after all that hassle. Christmas shopping is hell. Even I, the patron saint of shopping everyday, know and accept it. But despite all that, you can at least look fabulous while you do it…
STATEMENT STRIPE TROUSERS | OVERSIZED CHIC JUMPER | GOLD SPARKLE NECKLACEGOLD SPARKLE NECKLACE* | ROSE GOLD LOAFERS (similar) | FAUX FUR HEADBAND (camel version)
I am ALL about a good statement pair. In fact, for day one of Blogmas I styled up a fab look with monochrome stripe trousers, and the fun don’t stop there. These Lavish Alice huns where purchased for the Bloggers Blog Awards and have been in my wardrobe rotation pretty much every week since then.
The ‘kinda tucked but not really’ look works so well for the jumper I paired with them, with the sleeves rolled up keeping things laid back and cosy. Go a little oversized for ultimate duvet day vibes. If you’re braving the queues, tread carefully – heels are pretty much out of the question. Instead, I went for a pair of seriously cool metallic loafers, with flatforms for a li’l boost.
For the festive sparkle (a requirement by law throughout December), I’m wearing a beautiful piece from Handmade Sweet Designs, an Etsy store that just launched. They create custom pieces of jewellery with nail polish from independent polish brands. I can’t wait to pair this piece with gold glitter nails on Christmas. You can get gorge bespoke pieces too which make perfect gifts.
So there’s my Christmas shopping look all wrapped up. Then again, you could just wear your pjs and shop online…
