Epernay Escape The City New Menu Launch

If you’re in Leeds and looking for a more sophisticated evening that 2-4-1 cocktails at revs, the obvious choices are The Alchemist and The Botanist. However, The Electric Press plays host to a rather well kept secret named Epernay. First and foremost a champagne bar, I’ve visited once before for a rather memorably delicious tasting session. But since thenย I’ve been back to takeย the new Summer cocktail menu for a spin and it certainly won’t be as long until my next visit…

With a rather impressive back bar and a little candle light, it’s easy to see why everyone that visits Epernay seems to fall in love with it, myself included. After a quick introduction, we were introduced to the #EscapeTheCity concept, which certainly fits this delight of a bar. Sitting there drinking champagne, you could be a million miles away from Leeds. It’s a pretty perfect date night setting.

The first round of cocktails were whipped up by our lovely bartender and we were introduced to the Blue Grass Smash – refreshing, tart and made with bison grass vodka (aka pretty cool). Next up we had the Pink Koko which was a twist on a sex on the beach. Canapรฉs appeared between the drinks and I adored the mini caprese salads and puddings.

Last up we had The Morning After which had a somewhat more alcoholic taste than it’s traditional ‘hair of the dog’ counterparts and would certainly clear a few heads. The lovely Carolanne from A Literary Cocktail and I stayed a little longer and decided to take our pick from the new menu. Adorable teacups ensued and we left smiling, if a little tipsy.

Thanks to Epernay for an absolutely fabulous evening. I’ll be heading back soon to try some more of their new concoctions, plus they’ve launched a continental bottomless brunch that I shall absolutely have to try. Have you escaped the city yet?

Love Lucinda xx
