Lady Betty’s Afternoon Tea
When it comes to afternoon tea, I’d consider myself quite the connoisseur, and by that I mean I blooming love scones and tiny sandwiches! Betty’s is the ultimate northern tearoom (like literally, there is nothing that compares to the hun that is Betty*) that also make incred brunches = perfection much? Oh, and blogger cliche alert the macarons are to die for! If you’re not already peckish, things make be about to change. Afternoon tea is served…
If you’ve never been to Betty’s, you’re missing out on a whole host of adorable stuff: vintage aprons and impeccable service from the staff, endless clean, white linen and the best little old fella tinkling away on the piano. With the Lady Betty’s Afternoon Tea you have a choice of white or pink Champagne or a Champagne cocktail before being presented with a miniature twist on a classic prawn cocktail. The avocado puree and paprika transform the dish.
Next, a plate of savoury delights and a much needed pot of tea. Yu Luo, a white tea, is my usual pick but I can be tempted by a green tea too! Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese has to be the ultimate afternoon tea combination and the pork pie was simply delicious.
Time for the main event: a three tiered tray of finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with cream and jam and more sweet treats to finish off. For such tiny items, the whole thing is surprisingly filling and we couldn’t quite polish off everything – don’t panic, the desserts came home with us.
We honestly had such a delightful trip and left with huge grins on our faces. Have you been to Betty’s before? I’d love to know what you think!
*Disclaimer: I don’t know if Betty is real but if she is she would make an abso fab Granny!
