The 5 piece beauty challenge*
Recently I was challenged by SACO (you can read more about them here – take a look if you’re planning a trip!) to create two different makeup looks using only five products. Sounds impossible right? Turns out you just need the right tools…
As a lover of all things beauty it was difficult to select the chosen few but sometimes, you have to travel light. When I’m running round a city or relaxing by the pool, the last thing I want is heavy makeup so I took the plunge and picked my top 5!
1. Clinique CC Cream in Light, £28
2. Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, £37
3. Benefit Hoola Bronzer (mine is sample size), £23.50 full size
4. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (also sample size), £19 full size
5. MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick, £15
I was a little worried about having no concealer or primer for this look so I made sure my skin was super hydrated by drinking lots of water and moisturising first. I love CC cream as it has the light coverage of bb whilst balancing your skin tone to create a smooth, even base. I’ve been using this product religiously for well over a year now. I tested out the Smashbox CC Cream but wasn’t too impressed. It definitely didn’t have the moisturising qualities of Clinique’s version.
I used my go to Hoola bronzer to give my cheeks some definition. My family have finally clicked that I’m a little bit benefit obsessed so I still have some miniatures left over from Christmas and my birthday! I’m also in a very committed relationship when it comes to the Naked 3 palette from Urban Decay…
I used Strange (not pictured) and Limit to create my bright day time look and added Mugshot and Blackheart (as eyeliner) for a smokey eyed night time! Dark eyeshadows make perfect eyeliner substitutes. I also used Buzz to add colour to my cheeks, strange to highlight and Darkside to fill my brows- so multifunctional!
You know a mascara that claims to be ‘better than sex’ isn’t messing about. It’s taken over They’re Real in the mascara stakes as its just ridiculously good at lengthening AND thickening my lashes – no more of one or the other! It’s a definite make up bag staple. I also prefer mini mascaras as the shelf life on them isn’t great so you get just enough and don’t have to throw half the tube away.
Velvet Teddy is my current obsession. I’ve been wearing it with the Soar lip liner also from MAC. They both really hard to get hold of right now (thank you Kylie Jenner) but there are some great dupes floating around like Revlon’s matte lipstick Mauve It Over 003.
Here’s my day time look: soft eyes and a gentle glow!
And night time: bold brows and smokey shades
