My saturday night saviour.
So saturday night, eurovision was my only plan. I was casually scrolling through twitter when I spotted all the photos from McBUSTED at Phones 4 U arena in Manchester the night before. *Insert an insane amount of envy*. I’ve seen McFly about six times and Busted only once (shocking I know). In fact Busted was my first ever live gig at the very same arena! So when Phones 4 U tweeted asking who was going, I replied with a most definite I wish…
And their response had me jumping up and down and screaming like I did when I got Busted tickets for my tenth birthday!
And that was that! I dragged my lovely other half with me and we set of for Manchester! One of us was a little more excited than the other. Guess who?
I got to the box office and waiting was an envelope with my name on it…
The inside was even better!
We got some munchies and found our (amazing!!) seats. The arena was packed, I literally couldn’t see a spare seat anywhere. There was a mix of screaming young girls and their parents and screaming women and their partners. The final support band finished and it was finally time for McBUSTED to hit the stage. And what an entrance they made!
A video of James and Matt began (to a LOT of screaming) that ended in them jumping in a Delorean and making their entrance to the stage in it. I love the cross over, afterall McFly are named after Marty McFly from Back to the Future! Then the McFly boys popped up out of the ground and there were flames and magic and music and I literally could do nothing but rock out to air hostess!
They played all the best songs and did so many BUSTED JUMPS! I felt like I was ten again. When they slowed it down and sang shine a light… I almost cried. Don’t judge me, I said almost! The arena was lit up with thousands of lights and it was just beautiful.
And in fantastic McBUSTED style, they boys ran off stage, a rather odd video came on that involved dressing up as crazy americans and they flew down in a giant space ship singing Star Girl in the middle of the arena… DREAM!
They ran back to the stage to have McBUSTED written in flames, Dougie asking if people wanted to see their balls and played What I Go To School For! I’ve never sang so loud, I almost lost my voice!
I was singing along when they played Tom’s wedding vows song, which was crashed by James and Matt and turned into Crash the Wedding; UHMAZING!
When they played All About You, I was snuggled up to Jamie and it was so incredibly cheesy and lovely.
Of course, the entire show was filled with cheeky comments, especially from Dougie… which culminated in him pointing out the three giant boobs on the ceiling… YEAR 3000!
And the most exciting part?
This post was very much a chance for me to relive the memories from Saturday night but also to say a HUGE thankyou to Phones 4 U.
